The film received positive reviews from critics. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an 83 percent rating, based on 299 reviews.

According to Box Office Mojo, the film grossed around US$2,787,965,087 or Rp. 40.5 trillion. As if to repeat the success of Avatar 1, the sequel to the film was designed with players not much different from the players of Avatar 1.

The film Avatar tells the story of Earth in 2154 which is experiencing a very severe energy crisis. The humans must find a source of energy on another planet called Pandora. On the planet Pandora there is a large energy source called unobtanium.

To explore Pandora's biosphere, scientists used hybrids of Na'vi and humans called "avatars". He is operated by a genetically matched human, namely Jake Sully. The crippled former marine replaces his late twin brother as the operator for one avatar.
